It is quite easy to spot couples who are involved in swing dancing, usually, they will be the ones having most fun. This form of dance is very upbeat and celebratory while keeping each step in rhythm with the beats. Usually, a lot of dramatic jumps, aerial acts, throws and glides are involved on the part of both partners. One should not confuse it with salsa though. The basic forms are quite easy to learn and master.  Most common form of swing dancing is the Lindy Hop, which is considered the most traditional form of swing dance, though it is quite difficult to learn. Other forms include East Coast Swing and Charleston. 


Lindy Hop, known as the grandfather of swing dancing is based on an eight-count rhythm pattern. This form of dancing can be performed with different styles of music such as jazz, hip hop, or blues rhythm. Balboa is also an extremely fast form of swing dancing that is usually danced to fast jazz music and requires quire and sure footwork, as well as strong coordination. It is a kind of embrace dance for couples. East Coast and West Coast swing dances are basically revolutions of the fox trot. For beginners who are just introduced to the world of swing dancing, the best would be to learn few basic steps and coordination before rushing to a particular style. The pattern behind all the forms is surely the footwork, coordination with the beats and most importantly coordination with your partner. This is where they say that swing dancing is the ideal ice-breaker in any social circle.
